Taghazout Corniche

Taghazout Corniche

The new Taghazout Corniche will extend three kilometers along the village’s coastline. Presently, the Taghazout Bay promenade is confined to the vicinity of the seaside resort. This extension will seamlessly connect the existing promenade to the village’s coastal strip, reaching “La Source” beach, north of Taghazout. This development will facilitate a continuous linear promenade from Aourir to the northern region of Taghazout, incorporating the area’s most esteemed surf spots, which are particularly favored by water sports enthusiasts, while also supporting the growth of artisanal fishing within the village. The financing for the Taghazout Corniche development is sourced from an agreement established in April 2021, with significant contributions from the Souss-Massa Regional Council, the Ministry of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, the Atlantic Centre Chamber of Maritime Fisheries, and the municipality of Taghazout. The Department of Fisheries, the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa Region chairing the monitoring committee and SDR Tourisme, appointed as the delegated project owner, are also signatories to this agreement..

SDRT Intervention Scope

Currently, the development work for the first phase of the project is in progress. This phase primarily involves the construction of a sports field and an esplanade, as well as the enhancement of alleys in the lower part of the village. Additionally, the project will comprise the establishment of a fish market, 93 fishermen’s shops, administrative offices, and a waterfront promenade linking Taghazout Bay to “La Source.”
