Development of the Imsouane Tourist Area
Overview
The tourist area allocated for investment in Imsouane encompasses a total area of 20 hectares, with 11.4 hectares designated for investment projects and a total budget of 54 million Dirhams.
The development of the Imsouane tourist area aims to establish a development model tailored to the local context, promoting surfing activities at iconic locations such as “the Bay,” “the Reef,” and “the Cathedral.” This initiative prioritizes the preservation of the surrounding environment, which is characterized by ocean vistas and the RAMSAR zone, while considering the proximity to a historic fishing village. Furthermore, the project seeks to enhance tourist entertainment through the integration of accommodation infrastructure (featuring over 1,280 beds), catering services, and sports and cultural facilities, while emphasizing the area’s natural allure. The initiative encourages coherent investment to cultivate a vibrant tourist destination that aligns with the expectations of nature tourism and board sports.
The Imsouane site plans to execute 30 projects, providing a total capacity of 1,068 beds and 744 covers. The proposed infrastructure includes:
- 12 tourist accommodations
- Equipment and shops
- 11 catering and entertainment establishments
- Cultural and sports facilities
- A car park
The SDRT Souss-Massa has played a pivotal role in defining the overarching concept of this development unit, ensuring that the development plan aligns with site-specific characteristics. This concept integrates a robust dimension of tourist entertainment, balancing leisure, accommodation, and sports infrastructure. Additionally, the SDRT has overseen external developments to ensure the seamless integration of facilities into the region’s natural landscape.
