Cultural Development of Taalat
Located 50 kilometers from Agadir, the village of Taalat is a cultural stronghold of the Tassegdelt tribe and an important religious center in Souss-Massa. The village is organized around five historic institutions: a collective granary, a medersa, a mosque, a cemetery, and a weekly market. Taalat is also home to over 100 annexes originating from various medersas.
Lalla Taalat, a devoted and iconic figure, left a lasting mark on local history. Her legacy continues through the annual Moussem (Almogar N’Taalat), a spiritual event that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Taalat thus stands as a perpetual tribute to the Amazigh woman, symbolizing her vital role in Moroccan society.
