Tiout Palm Grove
Nestled 30 kilometers southeast of Taroudannt, the Tiout Palm Grove is a natural haven and a living repository of historical and cultural treasures. With its 16th century Saadi-era kasbah and its lush oasis irrigated by traditional canal systems, Tiout serves as a quintessential example of southern Moroccan oases.
In 2020, the SDRT Souss-Massa initiated a detailed plan to enhance the grove’s appeal, transforming it into a thriving destination for eco-tourism while preserving its cultural heritage.
SDRT Intervention Scope
- Development and marking of 2 kilometers of walking circuits within the grove, complete with benches for rest
- Renovation of irrigation basins and traditional seguias
- Creation of parking areas and recreational spaces, including play zones for children, rest areas, pétanque courts, and native tree plantations
- Construction of sanitation facilities and kiosks
- Development of a public square and an open-air amphitheater
- Installation of tourist signage
