The Ammelne Valley

The Ammelne Valley, located within the Western Anti-Atlas near Tafraout, features a vast green valley at the base of the imposing Jbel El Kest, framed by striking cliffs and dramatic pink rock formations. This valley hosts approximately twenty traditional douars, whose architecture appears delicately poised on the mountainside, creating a landscape of exceptional beauty. A genuine tourist treasure, this area draws those interested in authentic scenery and local heritage.

The valley is famously overseen by the “Lion’s Head,” a rock formation resembling the silhouette of a lion, its gaze symbolically guarding this serene landscape. 

SDR Tourisme’s initiative specifically targets the development of a concept suitable for creating an enjoyable walking experience through the village of Ammelne, allowing hikers and various tourists to fully appreciate the site’s beauty.
