Tourist Development of the Ait Mansour Valley
The Ait Mansour Valley, located in the commune of Afella Ighir near Tafraout (Province of Tiznit), is famous for its sinuous and narrow gorges majestically cutting through the Anti-Atlas, with rocky and arid slopes crowned by villages perched on cliffs. The site is recognized as part of the « Systèmes Ingénieux du Patrimoine Agricole Mondial » (SIPAM) by the FAO.
It is a natural treasure, comprising lush palm groves, almond, and olive trees, cultivated in small fields irrigated by a gravity-based system, making it a true oasis of greenery. The valley also boasts rich fauna and flora, including numerous nocturnal species.
To preserve and enhance this precious ecosystem, and as part of an integrated development project, SDRT Souss-Massa, in collaboration with various partners including the Departments of Agriculture, Water and Forests, Equipment, ANDZOA, ONCA, ABH Souss-Massa, as well as the Province of Tiznit and the Commune of Afella Ighir, has launched a landscaping and tourism development project in the heart of this 14 km² palm grove, part of the Argan Biosphere Reserve (ABR).
