Tourist Development of the Ait Jerrar Menara
The Ait Jerrar Menara, located in the Commune of Reggada in the Province of Tiznit, lies approximately 20 km southeast of Tiznit city. Often referred to as the twin of Marrakech’s Menara, the “Reggada Basin” was constructed under Caïd Ayad Ben Mohamed (1914–1938). This historic site is one of the oldest gardens and parks in the region. The basin spans 6,776 square meters (88m in length and 77m in width).
In an effort to enhance the tourism potential of this historical landmark and to foster income-generating activities within the Reggada Commune, SDR Tourism has launched a restoration and development project in collaboration with local stakeholders.
- Restoration of the Menara Basin;
- Installation of a dancing fountain with ambiance lighting;
- Establishment of kiosks for selling local products;
- Development of a snack area with a children’s play area;
- Installation of internal signage;
- Enhancement of outdoor lighting;
- Landscaping and creation of green spaces.
