La Médina d’Agadir

La Médina d’Agadir

Nestled in the southwest of Agadir, the Médina of Agadir—also known as Médina Polizzi—is a true architectural masterpiece. Designed by Italian architect Beato Polizzi in 1992 on a 4.6-hectare site, it is a miniature medina built using traditional methods inspired by ancestral techniques, with materials sourced mainly from the Souss Massa region.

Since its acquisition in 2019 by the Souss Massa Region through SDR Tourisme Souss Massa, which oversees its management, the Médina of Agadir has undergone a major upgrade program aimed at enhancing its appeal and establishing it as a key cultural and tourist hub. Today, it offers a diverse range of experiences: guided tours, traditional crafts, dining, events, audiovisual productions, and family activities—attracting both local and international visitors in search of authenticity.

Key achievements since 2020:

  • Connection to potable water and wastewater networks

  • Renovation of the Moorish café, restaurant kitchen, and riad

  • Landscaping of a one-kilometer forest trail with green spaces, play areas, and relaxation zones

  • Architectural lighting installation to highlight the site’s features at night

  • Visitor signage system for better orientation

  • Launch of a website and expansion of presence on social media platforms
